Review: The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda

Author: Andrew Fukuda
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Number of Pages: 293

Synopsis:
"Don’t Sweat.  Don’t Laugh.  Don’t draw attention to yourself.  And most of all, whatever you do, do not fall in love with one of them.
Gene is different from everyone else around him.  He can’t run with lightning speed, sunlight doesn’t hurt him and he doesn’t have an unquenchable lust for blood.  Gene is a human, and he knows the rules.  Keep the truth a secret.  It’s the only way to stay alive in a world of night—a world where humans are considered a delicacy and hunted for their blood.
When he’s chosen for a once in a lifetime opportunity to hunt the last remaining humans, Gene’s carefully constructed life begins to crumble around him.  He’s thrust into the path of a girl who makes him feel things he never thought possible—and into a ruthless pack of hunters whose suspicions about his true nature are growing. Now that Gene has finally found something worth fighting for, his need to survive is stronger than ever—but is it worth the cost of his humanity?"
Wow! This was.......weird. This book was really weird. It's strange how a lot of the books that I have been reading lately have been a lot different from what I normally read.

Who calls humans hepers? Why not just call them humans? Also, if the world has been over run by vampires, how come all the animals are extinct? If the vampires managed to kill all the humans in existence, er at least most of them, then the animals should be extinct or at least close to be extinct. Vampires can't be vegetarians, so that leads to animal extinction. Another thought, vampires can smell human blood, then why didn't they notice Gene or Ashley June. They should have noticed them immediately.

This book was poorly written. It wasn't boring but poorly written. I felt as if Andrew Fukuda didn't put much thought into this book. I liked the aspect of the Hunt. That was cool, but why wouldn't the King or whatever take the humans for himself if they were extremely rare.

The ending, dear lord, I loved it! The ending is what made me give this book a three. I hate cliffhangers, but cliffhangers are what make you want to read the next book. Throughout the whole book, we are told about Gene's father, but we are never told what happened to him besides that he was bitten. There are no signs that Gene's father is the Scientist, but at the end we discover that he is. WTF?!?!?!?!? I really loved that. I'm pretty sure I will be reading the sequel to this. I hope that Ashley June goes and dies in a ditch (Obviously, I don't like her.*shrugs*). Gene should really fall in love with Sissy. That would be adorable. Little Bookworm's OTP number.....(ummm, I've lost count.) GENE AND SISSY! <3

Review: 3 out of 5 stars!!
